natural diets = No Yeast Infection?

What is Vaginal Yeast Infection?

The intended purpose of this very short article is to enlighten you about some of the possible ideas, relating to some of  the ads and items being sold on the internet market today. Always, consult with your personal mentor or someone whom  you trust to advise you. Ok, I am a farmer, and I talk in farmer talk. Doctor to me is a Dr., not my health care professional,
and a mentor is my teacher.  Smile. ALSO, the statements in this article are my thoughts and/or opinions, based on reading, and personal experience with yeast infection. These are my personal thought and ideas.

Yeast is a fungus scientifically known as Candida. The common type of fungus responsible for vaginal yeast infection is Candida Albicans. Yeast is present on normal human skin and in places of moisture such as mouth and vagina. Nearly 20-25% women carry yeast infection in the vaginal area.
Nearly 75% of women have chances of getting vaginal yeast infections once in their entire lifetimes, and up to 45% have chances of carrying vaginal yeast infections twice or thrice. Women are more prone to contract yeast infections, when they are under stress or due to inadequate sleep, during pregnancy, or under the influence of antibiotics.
Symptoms: 1. Itchiness feeling in the vaginal area2. Thick, white colored cheese like discharge3. A burning sensation around the vaginal opening, mainly if urine touches that area4. Extreme pain or discomfort during sexual intercourse.
Diagnosis:
Doctors may check for the infection based on the above symptoms. They may then do a pelvic examination to look for
swelling and the white discharge in and around the vaginal area. The vaginal discharge is then taken for immediate examination under the microscope or to the laboratory to test for the presence of yeast organisms such as Candida
Fungus.
Proper treatment cures 90% of this infection within two weeks or few days. A marginal number of women will have
repeated infections. However, for them repeated treatments cure this infection.

Top 3 Criteria To Help You Choose the Right Diet!

Top 3 Criteria To Help You Choose the Right Diet!

Can we choose the right diet for 2010?

Is going to be a favorable year for all of us struggling with weight loss? Well, it is no secret that since the beginning of this year the economy has been hard-hit by recession. With our pockets going almost half empty, people will think twice before indulging in excesses of any kind, our junk food addiction notwithstanding. As a matter of fact, junk foods usually cost much more than natural foods. This is why we are likely to spend less money on junk foods and more on natural fruits and vegetables. Consequently, we should lose weight

With the recession setting in, we should be doing due diligence before investing in the right diet program. There are useless fad diet programs which you should avoid at all costs. Usually, diets which focus only on one type of food or other should be avoided.

So what types of diet programs should we choose? I am glad you asked.

First, we should choose the right diets that don’t limit us to just one food group: A healthy meal is one which contains fat, carbohydrates, protein, vitamins, etc., in equal proportions. If any of these components is missing from your current meal, it cannot be called a healthy meal.

Likewise, the right diets which severely restrict our carbohydrate or fat intake are not the right diet plans for us. Of course, it goes without saying that almost all diet programs out there would limit your junk food intake in some form or other.

Next the right diets will not only detoxify our body but also offer suggestions on how to keep it clean and free from toxins in future. When you eat junk foods for a long time, toxins get deposited in your intestines, which in turn pollute your entire body. These toxins prevent all of us from losing weight speedily.

Once your body gets rid of these toxins, you would feel much lighter and healthier. In addition, detoxifying your body would also help you lose a few pounds. Make sure that your diet program offers suggestions on detoxification of your body.

Last but not least. Diets should recommend workouts and exercises. Make sure that your diet program recommends exercises, which help you to burn fat and build muscles. Diets with no clear recommendations with regards to workouts, or diets which explicitly state that workouts are unnecessary should be avoided. Frankly speaking, any diet program which proclaims that you don’t need to workout at all is just fooling you. It is no where near being the right diet for anyone.

Always remember. Before starting any diet program and/or exercise program. Please visit and talk with your doctor.

Top 3 Reasons Why Treadmill Workouts Are Better Than Other Exercises

Top 3 Reasons Why Treadmill Workouts Are Better Than Other Exercises

While it is true that exercises come with many benefits, not all of us are able to keep up with our regular workout routines, sometimes out of lack of time, and at other times out of plain lethargy. In this article I would offer you one workout idea which would virtually make fitness as easy as pie for you!

Treadmills are one of the most popular home exercise equipments out there. It should be in the house of anyone who cares even a little bit about their health. Okay, I know that the treadmill needs no introduction, but are you aware of all its benefits? If not, then this article is for you!

Treadmills are a huge time saver. Many people cannot workout regularly because of lack of time. They have a job to handle as well as a family to look after. Add social pressure to the mix and you could get an idea of how much stressed and busy an individual could be these days.

Being home-based equipment, you can exercise whenever you want. You can choose your workout routines flexibly. For example, if you are supposed to exercise for thirty (30) minutes per day, you could do fifteen (15) minutes of workout before going to office and the other fifteen (15) minutes just before bedtime!

They are less boring and strenuous. Exercises like aerobics bore the hell out of you because you need to do them for hours in order to derive any decent benefit from them; plus they also command your concentration all the time; naturally, by the time you are finished with them, you feel as if you would never be able to repeat the exercise again.

On the other hand, if you do intense workouts like weight training, they would take much less of your time but are too strenuous for an average individual. If you have never done it before, you would find weight training and boring.

A treadmill workout is however one exercise which fits the bill perfectly for almost everyone. It is neither too boring nor strenuous. If you run or walk on the treadmill, it won’t be any different than plain walking or running on road, except that the treadmill workout would command much less attention and time from you than the latter. Being less demanding compared to other exercises, it doesn’t bore you either.

Treadmill workouts are secure and private. Many people feel uncomfortable at the prospect of going to a gym or hiring a fitness trainer. They believe that their proactive approach towards health and fitness would be perceived wrongly by their peers and relatives; they would think that they are doing all these in order to get rid of obesity. It is not unusual, especially at backward societies, to notice a group of people poking fun at someone who is heavy on workouts!

However, a treadmill, being secure in the privacy of your home, is safe from the prying eyes of your neighbors and buddies! You can exercise for as long as you want and whenever you want; no one would ever know about it. That’s what works for me. Treadmill workouts are private, secure and right at home. Please do not for get to check with your doctor before, and during any exercise program.

Top 3 things we should consider before joining a fitness center!

Top 3 things we should consider before joining a fitness center!

Joining a fitness center is probably the best thing you could do for your health. Sure, you could go the ’self-help’ way by picking up and doing random workouts, but you would go only so far with this ’self-help’ approach. A time will come when you would need guidance of an expert. Keep in mind that there is a reason why fitness trainers charge such astronomical amounts and are handsomely paid by their clients as well! Having said all of that, fitness centers are not within everyone’s budget. Not many pockets could afford to join a premier fitness center, and the situation has worsened with the new tide of recession which is taking over the economy in a negative way. Plus, most fitness centers would make you sign a contract before you could get started, this to ensure that you don’t cancel your membership midway! As such, you should spend some good time on research before choosing the best fitness center for yourself and investing in it!

Top 4 Excuses for Not Working out Regularly

Top 4 Excuses for Not Working out Regularly

If you thought that the only function an exercise serves is that of helping you lose weight, you are terribly wrong! Everyone should do exercises, whether they are overweight, underweight or of normal weight. Your body weight has something to do with the speed and type of your exercises, but you should be working out nonetheless.

You see, besides helping you keep a slim and nice looking body, workouts come with several other bigger benefits. Studies have pointed out time and again that people who workout regularly are less likely to suffer from heart-related diseases or die a premature death than those who don’t; the same researchers say that women who workout regularly are less likely to suffer from osteoporosis and other body-weakening diseases than others.

Now the million dollar question is: if exercises are so important then why do people shy away from it? There are many reasons behind the ‘unpopularity’ of exercises.

First, is the monetary issue? People believe that in order to do workouts of any importance, they either need to buy expensive exercise equipments, hire a fitness trainer, or buy an expensive membership at a premier gym. All these perceptions are wrong; nonetheless, people continue to believe in them.

Second, is a lack of time?  Some people find it very difficult to find spare time for exercises. The reason behind this is usually too much workload at office. Sometimes however, this is just used as a lame excuse to keep away from workouts. When you see that one person is able to maintain his workout regimen and the other cannot (even though both are doing the same job, living the same lifestyle, have the same household chores to do, and are allotted the same 24 hours in a day), you know something is wrong.

Next is lethargy and apathy. Many people are by nature lazy, which is why we have an issue like ‘obesity’ plaguing the whole world. Even if they have spare time, they would rather spend it by watching a movie than doing their workouts.

People think that workouts are too hard; forget about actually working out in the gym, they are fatigued simply on hearing the very name of ‘workouts’. Others feel that workouts are boring and no fun to do. Still others feel that workouts are useless for anyone who is not an athlete or bodybuilder.

Fourth is a social stigma. People living in culturally backward societies suffer from “pangs of social stigma”; they feel that if they start going to gym, their friends and neighbors would inevitably think that something is wrong with their body weight, and then they have to keep up with their taunts.  You would be surprised to know that some people even feel uneasy when asked to go to a fitness trainer or visit a nutritionist.

If you keep away from workouts for any of the above issues, you could try out the treadmill workouts. Treadmills are pretty affordable these days, with some shops even offering discounts and coupon codes to first time buyers! Since the equipment would be located at your home, you don’t need to go out to the gym to burn your fat. Since you would exercise in the privacy of your home, nobody would ever get a hint.

Teenage Obesity: Is it Killing Our Children?

Teenage Obesity: Is it Killing Our Children?

I saw an article that said American kids suffer from obesity and it is killing many of them. I would not personally go as far as to say this. However, I have personally, as a teacher, seen the kids in the various grade levels; appear to be heavier than in years past.

Obesity is bad enough, but teenage obesity is worse. If kids and teenagers start getting overweight, it only goes on to show how bad our lifestyle habits have become and how little concern we have for our health. If we don’t take the right measures to curb it, it would only get worse with time. What I have learned is that teenage obesity leads to young adult obesity.

Now why should we be so concerned about obesity? Obesity is a cause of concern because it not only makes a person look fat and ugly but also inflicts him with several killer diseases such as diabetes, sleep apnea, heart problems, kidney troubles, high blood pressure, etc.!  Just imagine your teen as a diabetic! Obesity in itself is fatal as well; recent studies point out that people who suffer from teenage obesity are more likely to die prematurely than others.

Don’t believe me? Actually many people used to think that the concept of ‘obesity related death’ is a joke or rumor, that is, until in 1989 the National Institute for Health decided to sponsor a study designed to monitor the health of about one million women over an extended period of time.

During the study, the lifestyle habits of these women, including diet, level of activity, etc. were monitored. The study continued over a period of (12) twelve years, and most of the women who volunteered to participate in it were nurses employed in state-run hospitals located in various parts in USA, including New York, Kentucky, Michigan, Texas, etc. All of them were aged  (22-44) twenty two and forty four years.

The participants were asked to answer a series of questions pertaining to their health, including the lifestyle habits they followed during their adolescence, their entire medical history, etc. Midway during the study, as many as (710) seven hundred and ten participants died.

The researchers conducting the study found out that the reason behind their premature deaths was that almost all of them were obese in their teens. It is then that these researchers concluded that people, in this case women, who suffer from teenage obesity are three times more likely to die prematurely than those who are of normal weight.

As you can see, teenage obesity influences the future of your kid in a big way! If you don’t want your children to die prematurely like those nurses, it is time that you start monitoring the lifestyle habits of your teenage daughters and sons. There are too many fad diets and diet pills out there, all claiming to help you with weight loss but I would rather recommend healthy eating and an active lifestyle for your teenage kids. Keep in mind that if you wish your kids to live a long life, preventing teenage obesity is a great way to ensure that.

Would Starvation Really Help You Become Slim and Fit?

Would Starvation Really Help You Become Slim and Fit?

One of the most popular weight loss myths is that with starvation, you would lose weight fast, and become slim and fit! People, especially those who are new to weight loss, believe that if they starve non-stop for several weeks, all their pounds would go away and they would be able to munch on junk foods once again.

In the weight loss industry, there are two types of concepts: truths and myths. You need to find out and accept the truth and disregard the myth. However, it is easier said than done. In the modern world, lies are more attractive and famous than truths and as such, most people fall for the lies and harm themselves. However, this won’t happen to you if you take the time to read this article. In this article I will talk about one of the top prevailing myth which is badly affecting the weight loss industry.

Truth however, is not so rosy! As a matter of fact, your body requires a certain amount of calories per day to function properly. Once your body is deprived of this basic nutrition, it feels that you are killing it. To protect itself from death, it would move into what is known in medical parlance as “starvation mode”. While in starvation mode, your body would stop the fat burning process by lowering your metabolic rate.

The end result would be that even if you lose a few pounds of weight, it will be water weight loss, which often is a result of starvation, and not fat loss. Water weight loss is temporary and the lost weight would return back once you start eating normally! If you want to achieve permanent weight loss, you need to lose fat. Starvation has really helped you become slim and fit

There are diets which make you eat only a piece of carrot or a glass of lemon juice over a twenty four (24) hour period. What these diets are doing is making you starve. Once again your body would stop the fat burning process to protect itself from premature death. Worse, when you quit dieting and go into normal eating mode, you would gain some extra pounds over and above what you started with.

There is more to it. Starvation decreases your muscle mass. Normally your body uses carbohydrates to produce the necessary energy. But when you starve, your carbohydrate storage gets depleted rapidly, leaving you with just fat and muscles. By nature your body would keep the fat intact for future use and start burning muscles for energy production.

As you lose muscles, your metabolic rate would automatically diminish! A time would come when you would have more fat than muscles. This is not an ideal situation. If you have very little muscle you won’t be able to burn fat and lose weight, for muscles are what help you burn fat quickly!
